Ingredients we need:
- 250g unsalted butter
- 1.5 cups regular milk
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 100 mL olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Mahlab powder
- 1 teaspoon fennel powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 kg self raising flour
- Additional cup of self raising flour
Preparation method:
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat
- Pour the milk over the butter, remove from heat when the milk is warm
- In a mixing bowl, add fennel, Mahlab and vanilla powders then the sugar. After that, pour the oil over and mix using your hands
- Pour the milk and butter mixture into the mixing bowl and mix using your hands till the sugar is dissolved
- Add the flour and the baking powder to mixing bowl. Fold the ingredients by hands till the flour absorbs the liquid mixture
- At this stage, you should have a smooth dough
- Add gradually small amount at a time of the extra cup of self raising flour if the dough is too sticky
- Sprinkle the benchtop with flour
- Divide the dough into five dough balls
- Use a rolling pin to roll out each dough ball to 1/2 cm thickness
- Use a biscuit cutter or cup to cut the dough

- Add a pattern to your biscuits using a fork

- Line the biscuits’ baking trays with parchment paper
- Bake in a preheated oven to 140oC until golden

- Leave to cool on a wire rack before store in them in airtight containers
